Down in the smoke where the whiskey burns, Every face was waiting for their turn. He wore a painted smile, a perfect cloak To him, every word was just a joke A master of cards with a charming disguise, He dealt out fate with a gambler’s eyes. The deck knew secrets hidden from sight, While he stole the day and owned the night. He'd smile and say, "Don't blame the game... The world knows my face, remembers my name. He's the poker joker, smiling in the night, He bends every rule while he hides in plain sight. Every hand's a winner, every lie gets told, The only chip he never bet... is his soul. "I've got three aces and a pair of jacks, Tell me now, boys, who's beating that?" The table groaned, the glasses shook, No one dared to question the cards he took. He palmed a queen, he slipped a king, Made the deck dance on invisible strings. Every fallen angel looked the other way, 'Cause Devil loved the games he'd play. Then one cold night a stranger came, No one there recalled his name. Eyes like embers, dressed in black, He smiled and said, "Let's raise the stack." No chips of silver, no gold to hold, "Tonight," he said, "we're betting souls." The poker joker flashed his grin, "There's never been a game he didn't win." He dealt himself what looked divine, Four proud kings in a royal line . The stranger slowly turned his hand, Calm and silent, he took his stand. Four cursed aces... none had seen, A hand beyond all mortal dreams. The candles died, the room stood still, The silence cut sharper than steel. The winner gathered every stake, Then claimed the soul the cheat had made. He's no poker joker anymore tonight, No laughing face beneath the light.
